Training
is one of the most important investments an organization can make.
Many organizations have increased the use of in-house experts for
training. It's less expensive than bringing in an outside consultant,
and learning is more focused and more specific to the organization.
While
you have the content knowledge, you may need some coaching on the
basics of effective presenting and training. This manual is designed
to give you fundamental skills in conducting a training session.
Course Content
In this module we will discuss the following topics:

How to select a subject and define your audience
- Writing
action-oriented objectives
- Planning
and sequencing topics
- Determining
the most appropriate presentation methods
- Tips
for preparing visual aids
- Speaking
effectively to any size group
Audience:
All
employees responsible for training, cross-training, or making formal
presentations could benefit from this module. The major objective
is to plan, design, and deliver an effective training session that
transfers knowledge in an interactive and effective manner.
Timing:
This
module can be presented with a minimum of four hours, more for practice,
demonstration, and feedback. Ideally, two half days should be allotted:
the first session to learn the material and prepare the presentation,
and the second to deliver it to other participants for feedback
and pointers.
