Marcia
Hakanson Marcia V. Hakanson has been an HR consultant and trainer for over 15 years. Marcia holds a bachelor's degree from University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco. She also attended a graduate program in International Business at the City University Business School in London. She specializes in management training with a particular emphasis on legal issues. She has also been involved with several organizations who have implemented Corporate Universities and quality programs. Her corporate experience stems from Chevron Chemical, Bechtel Pacific, Charles Schwab, and Transamerica. She regularly conducts training on topics such as sexual harassment prevention, diversity awareness, employment law, and other topics for clients such as British Petroleum/ARCO, the Pacific Exchange, Valin Corporation, Heritage Realty and other private- and public-sector employers. She is a trainer for Council on Education in Management (www.counciloned.com) and regularly teaches their HR Certification classes in the Western United States. She also conducts training for clients of Claremont EAP (www.claremoneteap.com) and Herrera & Company (www.herreracompany.com) as well as for her direct clients. This library of training resources is a culmination of over 15 years working with client organizations. She has also written over 30 manuals on various HR topics, and for many years edited the Personnel Law Update and Personnel Assistant newsletters published by Council.
